The Tesla Powerwall 3P is a high-performance three-phase battery storage system designed for PV installations with demanding requirements for power output, backup capability, and scalability. Each unit provides 13.5 kWh of usable storage capacity and a maximum output power of 15.4 kW. Thanks to its integrated inverter, up to 20.4 kWp of PV capacity per Powerwall can be connected directly via four independent MPPTs. This significantly reduces installation effort by minimizing the need for external components and interfaces. In addition to residential applications, the Powerwall 3P is also well suited for small commercial installations with higher and variable energy demands, such as offices, workshops, or small service businesses. A key advantage is the ability to combine multiple Powerwalls within a single system. In a cascaded configuration, the system can deliver up to 61.6 kW of total output power and up to 94.5 kWh of total storage capacity. This enables the system to grow alongside increasing requirements, including larger PV systems, additional EV charging infrastructure, or the ongoing electrification of loads. The three-phase design enables a comprehensive backup and whole-home power supply for the entire building, allowing even high-power loads such as heat pumps, EV chargers, and critical business equipment to continue operating during grid outages. When combined with a photovoltaic system, the Powerwall 3P supports effective self-consumption optimization and is also suitable for use with dynamic electricity tariffs, storing energy when rates are low and utilizing it when electricity prices are higher. Monitoring and control are handled through the Tesla app, providing installers and system owners with a transparent real-time overview of PV generation, energy consumption, charging and discharging processes, and overall system status. For Powerwall 3 expansion units, a compatible wiring harness and the desired mounting kit must be ordered separately. To purchase and install Tesla products, a valid Tesla certification is required.
