EHeat pumps

Use the power of the sun to heat water too!

Hot water heat pumps use a system that has been known from refrigerators for decades and can be perfectly coupled with a new or existing PV system to electrify the preparation of hot water in the household. To do this, they use heat from the ambient air or groundwater. This ensures higher self-consumption of solar power, a better CO₂ balance for the household and a decoupling from fossil fuels. By coupling a PV system, the solar power can be used directly to operate the heat pump and thus reduce energy costs. The heat pump can therefore be an efficient and cost-effective alternative to conventional heating systems such as gas or oil heating.

The advantages of an air-to-water heat pump are obvious:

  • "Leverage effect" thanks to compressor technology of around 1 to 3, meaning that for every kWh of electricity used, the heat pump generates around 3 kWh of heat with the addition of environmental energy
  • Seamless integration and control of hot water preparation in an existing or new PV system via SG-ready
  • Low space requirement and installation effort
  • Very quiet and generates no noise pollution
  • Requires very little maintenance
  • Heat is generated more efficiently than conventional heating and air conditioning systems
  • Cheaper than conventional heating and air conditioning systems

In contrast to heating heat pumps, hot water heat pumps require less installation and adjustment as they operate independently of the outdoor and indoor temperature. This means that a hot water heat pump can also be operated in parallel in a household with fossil fuel heating in order to save fuel costs and become less dependent on volatile prices.

The use of solar power to heat water using heat pumps in combination with photovoltaic systems is a particularly efficient and environmentally friendly method of optimizing energy use in the home. This technology can be implemented in new and existing buildings and makes a significant contribution to optimizing energy consumption and improving the carbon footprint.

The complementarity of heat pumps for hot water and photovoltaic systems enables the targeted use of solar energy to heat water. The direct use of solar power for this requirement increases the self-consumption of the electricity produced, which increases the efficiency of the PV system. At the same time, this reduces dependence on fossil fuels for hot water production, promotes a sustainable energy supply and protects the environment.

The impressive "leverage effect" of the hot water heat pump is based on its modern compressor technology. With this technology, around 3 kWh of heat can be generated from one kWh of electricity consumed by making effective use of environmental energy.

The seamless integration of water heating into existing or newly installed PV systems by SG-ready enables smart control and consumption of the energy produced in-house. This not only increases direct consumption, but also supports the practical use of renewable electricity, which in turn reduces the environmental impact and steers the household supply towards sustainability.

The small footprint and ease of installation of hot water pumps make them particularly appealing for different building situations. In new buildings in particular, this technology can be implemented directly to heat efficiently and make optimum use of self-generated energy. However, it can also be introduced in existing buildings without great difficulty, reducing the barrier to switching to renewable energy.

Hot water heat pumps work independently of external and internal temperatures, unlike heating heat pumps, which are strongly influenced by these conditions. They are therefore a sensible addition to households with fossil fuel heating systems. Parallel operation can help to save fuel and increase energy efficiency, resulting in lower costs and a reduced carbon footprint in the long term.

To summarize briefly once again: A hot water heat pump is the perfect addition to any household with a PV system and ensures an even shorter payback period for the PV system by increasing self-consumption. The combination of heat pumps and photovoltaic systems makes efficient use of solar energy to provide hot water and increases self-consumption of solar energy in the household. This synergy leads to an improved carbon footprint by reducing the use of fossil fuels. The heat pumps use decades of proven compressor technology to generate around 3 kWh of heat from one kWh of electricity. Smooth integration into photovoltaic systems via SG-ready enables intelligent energy use. The low installation and space requirements make this technology universally applicable. In contrast to heating heat pumps, hot water heat pumps work independently of the temperature. They are also suitable for households with fossil heating systems in order to save costs and increase energy efficiency. This combination supports a sustainable energy supply and reduces the ecological footprint in the home.
