Our political commitment: pushing the solar industry forward
At a time when the demand for sustainable energy solutions is constantly growing, we see it as our responsibility not only to stand by your side as a reliable partner, but also to actively help shape the framework conditions for the photovoltaic industry.
As a member of the trade association of the German solar energy industry and SolarPower Europe, we are committed to setting the political framework for the further advancement of solar energy. Our involvement in these organizations enables us to represent your interests as installers at the highest level and thus create the best conditions for a successful future.
We have been a member of SolarPower Europe (SPE), a leading organization for the promotion of solar energy in Europe, since 2015. However, our commitment goes far beyond mere membership: since 2016, we have been represented on the Board by Jochen Hauff as one of three Vice Presidents. In this role, we actively advocate for the reduction of trade barriers, the improvement of framework conditions for European PV manufacturers, compliance with human rights and support for Ukraine from the European solar sector.
It is particularly important to us that the interests of all stakeholders, especially our PV installers, are heard. Whether they are building small residential systems or installing on industrial roofs or large solar parks. Through our active membership of SPE, we make a significant contribution to improving the framework conditions for installers and advancing the entire industry so that both our partners and their customers benefit from a strong and dynamic photovoltaic industry.

Habeck opens PV system donated by BSW and members at Ukrainian school
As a member of the German Solar Industry Association (BSW), we are proud to be part of this project! The inauguration of a photovoltaic system donated by the solar industry on the roof of School No. 1 in Irpin by Ex Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck and BSW President Jörg Ebel marks a significant step in the “Solar Supports Ukraine” initiative.
Solar companies help in Ukraine
A solar system, which was donated in full by German solar companies, is being put into operation at School 17 in the Kiev suburb of Irpin. We were also involved in this project. The system is intended to secure the school's power supply during the ongoing war.

We also work with Remote Energy. This non-profit organization trains women in Africa to become solar educators, who in turn pass on the knowledge and skills to install solar systems in their communities. Through our support, we are helping to bring sustainable energy solutions to remote regions and at the same time strengthen the local economy by jointly empowering women to act as multipliers and pass on knowledge about solar energy.

By supporting the photovoltaic industry at all these levels, we not only want to offer you, the installers, the best products and solutions, but also to be a strong partner who works with you to shape the future of solar energy.
Ecological sustainability: creating awareness
We at BayWa r.e work together with atmosfair. The non-profit climate protection organization supports companies and environmentally conscious private individuals in offsetting unavoidable CO2 emissions. As part of the partnership, we became aware of a particularly interesting atmosfair project: The “Germanwatch Climate Expedition”. The project focuses on environmental education for schoolchildren.
We decided to support the program financially because it is aimed at the younger generation, who are largely responsible for the direction in which our planet will develop. This will ensure that schoolchildren continue to be educated about the effects of climate change in the future.
We would like to introduce the project to you in more detail:
Germanwatch climate expedition
| Start of the project | 2015 |
|---|---|
| Target group | Students in grades 5-13 from all types of schools |
| Topics | Causes and consequences of climate change, climate justice issues, sustainable mobility & tourism |
| Range of coverage | Over 640 climate expeditions at over 160 schools |

Further information on the project can be found here: Germanwatch Climate Expedition

Social responsibility: solidarity through solar energy
But our commitment goes beyond political work. We understand that it is important to take on social responsibility in today's world. That is why we support Ukrainian schools with donations of photovoltaic components to ensure that the power supply is guaranteed even in difficult times and that children continue to have the opportunity to receive education. These projects strengthen confidence in the power of photovoltaics.
